Hi, I’m Mia Horton, a dedicated World of Warcraft Hardcore Raider and the creator of saveourgulf.org, a blog where I share my passion and expertise about WoW raids. Ever since I first stepped into the expansive world of Azeroth, I’ve been hooked by the thrill of epic raid encounters, teamwork, and the constant push for self-improvement in one of the most complex and exciting parts of the game: raiding.
My Journey as a Raider
World of Warcraft has been part of my life since I was a teenager. What started as casual leveling soon became an obsession with the high-stakes, adrenaline-pumping experience of raiding. I’ve spent countless hours researching strategies, working with my raid team to fine-tune our approach to bosses, and striving for the satisfaction of a first kill. Over the years, I’ve seen the game evolve, and with every new expansion, my excitement for raiding has grown.
I currently raid with the <Crimson Vortex> guild, one of the top raiding guilds on the Thrall server. Our guild is known for its focus on high-end PvE content, especially Mythic raids, and we’re consistently ranked among the top guilds on our server. Raiding with <Crimson Vortex> has been a challenging yet rewarding experience. Every boss we face feels like a puzzle, and it takes careful planning, strong execution, and exceptional teamwork to succeed.
In The War Within, the upcoming WoW expansion, my team and I are already preparing for the next wave of challenges. We’ve spent hours strategizing, running beta tests, and theory-crafting about the best builds and compositions. As a guild, we take pride in the fact that we maintain a friendly and supportive atmosphere while maintaining a competitive edge. Our raid nights are filled with laughter, focus, and the occasional stressful moment, but it’s all worth it when we see those bosses fall.
The Creation of SaveOurGulf.org
As I became more involved in the world of raiding, I realized that there weren’t enough resources out there that combined technical raid knowledge with the personal experiences of someone who lives and breathes the game. That’s why I launched saveourgulf.org. I wanted to create a platform where I could document my journey, offer detailed raid guides, and share tips and strategies with other players who are passionate about improving their raiding game.
At saveourgulf.org, I provide an inside look at what it takes to raid at the highest levels. I cover everything from boss strategies to gear recommendations, talent builds, and how to prepare mentally for progression raiding. But my blog isn’t just about mechanics — it’s about the community. I write about the social aspects of raiding, the friendships that form, the conflicts that arise, and the sense of accomplishment that comes with being part of a team. Raiding is so much more than just fighting bosses; it’s a deeply immersive experience that teaches patience, perseverance, and cooperation.
One of the things I’m most proud of is how saveourgulf.org has grown into a community of like-minded players. I receive messages from raiders all over the world who have used my guides to improve their performance or who simply want to share their raiding experiences. It’s incredibly rewarding to know that I’m making a difference, however small, in the lives of fellow gamers.
What Drives Me
My love for raiding goes beyond just clearing content. It’s about pushing myself to be better with every expansion, every patch, and every raid tier. I enjoy the analytical side of the game, figuring out the optimal rotations and perfecting my performance. But more than that, it’s the camaraderie and shared goal of beating difficult content that drives me. Raiding isn’t something you do alone; it’s a group effort, and when everything clicks, there’s nothing quite like the feeling of downing a boss after weeks of attempts.
In addition to raiding, I also dabble in Mythic+ dungeons and PvP, though my heart will always belong to raids. I believe in balancing the intense grind with a love for exploration and experimentation in different parts of the game.
Balancing Real Life and Raiding
As much as I love raiding, it’s not always easy to balance it with real life. I live in Gulfport, Mississippi, a coastal town that inspires much of the name behind my blog, saveourgulf.org. Outside of WoW, I’m an environmental advocate and passionate about preserving our beautiful Gulf region. Running the blog while managing my personal life is a juggling act, but one that I’m proud to handle. I’ve learned a lot about time management, prioritization, and staying organized, which are all skills that have helped me in raiding as well.
What’s Next?
Looking forward, I’m excited about the direction WoW is heading with The War Within expansion. The new raids look intense, and I can’t wait to dive into them with my guild. I’m also planning to expand the content on saveourgulf.org. I’ve been working on new sections, including a Mythic+ dungeon guide series and an in-depth review of the latest gear metas for raiders looking to optimize their setups. I’ve also started experimenting with Twitch streaming, where I broadcast our progression nights and provide live commentary on our strategies, mistakes, and triumphs.
My goal is to continue growing saveourgulf.org into one of the most trusted sources for raiding information in the WoW community. Whether you’re just getting into raiding or you’ve been at it for years, I want my blog to be a place where you can learn, share, and grow as a player.
